Prices Drop as Temps Rise, but the Aftermath May Just Be Getting Started. The Beacon, 03/01/2021

The Headline:   Last week, milder weather pushed natural gas and energy prices down sharply through Q1 2022, and prices are off smaller amounts after that.  After the largest withdrawal in 3 years, gas storage levels are below last year’s numbers and the 5-year average, and as COVID-19 demand reductions start to unwind, the stage is set for possible higher prices this spring.

The Bottom Line:    Market conditions suggest higher prices are on the way.   We are recommending that you lock in your electricity and natural gas rates, especially if your contract starts any time after late 2021.
